3 Tips for New and Aspiring Bloggers

Here are 3 pieces of short and sweet advice I have to share with baby bloggers- and what I’d go back and tell myself!

1. It’s really not that important.

No, seriously, it’s not as big of a deal as you’re probably making out of it. When you’re first starting out, it’s highly unlikely more than a couple people are even going to see your posts for a few months! And even if you get lucky or have some mad visibility skills, you’re going to have a couple hundred people, maybe even one or two thousand people see what you’ve written.

So what.

How many people are on this planet? AND out of those 5, 100, or 2,000 people, how many of them are going to actually stick around to read the whole post, form an opinion on it, judge what you’ve written, and remember it?

Like, none. Unless it’s really good and they adore it!

So the way I see it, it’s not a big freakin’ deal what you decide on right now, whether you’re struggling with post topics, your blog theme, blog names, or something else. It’s not going to matter in the grand scheme of things, so let loose in the moment and do whatever lights your little heart up. That’s how you embrace your power- you choose joy in the moment and roll with it.

Which leads me into my next point:

2. It doesn’t need to be perfect (in fact, it will never be perfect).

You’re always going to be learning and growing. Every blogger I’ve ever spoken with has said their blog changed 10000% from when they started, and that it changed at least 5 times in their first 3-12 months of blogging.

So whatever you are struggling to work past right now, just pick an option and let it play out! As you start getting a feel for the blogging world, you can make adjustments based on what you want and what feels right for you.

It’s never going to be perfect, and it takes time to build up blog traffic and following, so if you actually want to have a blog with a decent amount of engagement and viewers (especially if you have a powerful message and the potential to really impact lives), start immediately. That way, you can start learning!

Get yourself out there, take your blog for a spin.

Twiddling your thumbs and pacing back and forth mentally trying to decide between two different fonts and three shades of pink and four domain ideas is just your fear holding you back from stepping into the spotlight, putting yourself out there, and sharing your message with the online community.

Forget perfect. Shoot for human, and do what you want!

3. Start N O W. Waiting is just plain silly.

Just in case you didn’t get the hint, this is my #1 advice for baby and aspiring bloggers. Start sharing, start getting visible, start writing, start playing with it! Start now, what do you have to lose? Your whole 3 followers and 1 regular viewer (who may or may not just be you because you’re not sure if your analytics tracker counts every time you look at your own blog)? PSH.

Go be the girl you want to share with everyone and start sharing her NOW! Who you are now is exactly who you need to be in this moment. Trust the process and release that resistance.

You got this!

With love,
