Consistent, heart-centered support goes a long way.

You hire a therapist for mental healthcare. You hire a nanny to help with the kids. You hire a coach to get better at stuff.

You hire a mentor for encouragement, fresh perspectives, and support in exploring life more deeply.

Hey, I’m Jessica.

I’m a young little thing- so I’m told. But I’ve been through my share of trials in life and I’ve come through them soft, kind, loving, patient (okay, relatively patient, I’m not perfect), and delighted in my life.

Despite being the daughter of a 16 year old who was already addicted to drugs, surviving abuse and neglect as a child, growing up with Cystic Fibrosis, suffering more than ten miscarriages, and being a survivor of rape… I love myself. I love life. And I believe that each of us has a radiant core of pure love, when it comes down to exposing our souls.

I’m not a mentor because I think I know all there is to know about life.

If you’ve seen any of my blog posts, you know that I struggle with self-doubt and insecurity just like 99% of the population of planet earth. You know I’ve battled depression and anxiety, that I’ve lost health battles because I clung to all-or-nothing mentality and tried to make sure everything was perfect and certain.

I love herbalism and holistic approaches to everysinglething. But I also know that medical care is important. In caring for myself with cystic fibrosis, I’ve learned to appreciate the western medicine that repeatedly saves my life… and I’ve finally begun to find a balance between the holistic, gentle, natural goodness I love and the medication I need in order to survive.

After spending an entire decade spiraling trying to understand what it was that people found so fun about partying, I finally came back to myself- and realized that I had the peace I wanted all along.

I’m a great mentor because I’m always learning. I naturally lean toward looking at things with a new and gracious perspective. I see the best in others 99% of the time, and when I don’t, I see it as an opportunity to investigate what it is in my own belief system that causes me to judge the other person harshly.

I’m forgiving, but I believe in boundaries.

I believe that forgiveness is not the absence of self-care, and that disregard for one’s self is not forgiveness in action.

There’s a balance, and finding that balance is a part of what has brought me to this space today where I’m able to feel peace and gratitude and power and confidence and love and pride in myself, even while actively thinking of the abusers and monsters in my past.

I’m a mentor because I know things that nobody seemed to know when I needed support in my own journey. Or at least, I talk about them where nobody else seems to be.

I’m a mentor because, through sharing my story vulnerably over the years, people have come to me for advice and reassurance.

And as a mentor, I’m not here to diagnose or treat any illness. I’m not here to tell you what to do with your life or give you advice about your relationships or business. I can share insights and perspectives and personal experience- and I will- that’s something my clients always delight in!

But what I really do?

Okay, straight up version: I ask a lot of questions!

And I listen when you answer. I listen when you share without a prompt. I offer feedback and insight where you are open to it, and I offer reassurance and encouragement where you’ve heard only silence or negativity in the past.

I challenge you to look deeper, I offer you a sounding board for ideas. I inspire and encourage you to play with ideas and I hold a safe and lighthearted (but serious when it needs to be) space for exploring concepts, fears, and potential futures for yourself. It’s a lot of fun! But it’s not just that, it’s a really powerful way to understand yourself better and make more clear decisions for your life.
